Milestone Pay
Milestone Pay is a Melbourne-based start-up that started as an idea to help freelancers and small businesses ensure that they get paid for the hard work that they do. They help freelancers and small businesses all over the world manage their sales process. Their toolkit has everything that is required to get the job done, from talking to and onboarding clients to scoping, proposals, booking meetings, contracts, invoices and managing those relationships long term.
The challenge
The challenge presented to us by the client was to research and design solutions that help freelancers and small businesses automate admin tasks such as manual data entry and the large number of phone calls, emails and meetings that need to be manually managed. This will allow them to spend more time focussing on more important tasks.
My Role
We worked as a team of twelve UX/UI designers during a 2-week sprint to carry out this project which required all UX/UI processes, from research, to synthesis, to ideation and implementation. My role as a Facilitator , take the research insights collected by the research team, and to design and hold the Ideation Workshops, develop the MVP and Low fidelity Wireframes.
The Design Process
throughout the design process the double diamond structure was followed
How Might We
After the research methodologies of competitor analysis and desktop research , the general idea of Problem statement was determined Later ideating it to create Insights into problem . the interviews and surveys helped us generate the Persona with similar problem to understand the How might we Help the Users.
Ideation workshops
Different techniques were used to generate qualitative outcomes for the problem, crazy’4 Mash ups, Rapid rounds.
Ideation workshops (cont’d)
We ran 3 workshops with 15 participants including freelancers, sole business owners and classmates. As per the brief, our goal was to generate as many ideas as possible. Participants were encouraged to be as outrageous as they liked and to value quantity over quality, as all ideas can be later refined.
Affinity Mapping of Ideas
After the workshops all idea generated were collected for Affinity mapping and were regrouped under similar headings.
New Ideas were generated for Discussion
After the workshops all idea generated were collected for Affinity mapping and were regrouped under similar headings. and all participants were asked to rate them out of 5 so only the few ideas could be selected.
MVP (Minimum viable Product)
We validated which ideas would be considered the most viable and feasible by Milestone Pay. The solutions generated from ideation workshops were presented to the client in the form of a user flow constructed. contracts.
Focus on two ideas
We then conducted MVP voting with the client in order to determine the solution that was most feasible, usable and desirable. The MVP turned out to be a proposal studio and contract helper as users had difficulties with writing up proposals and understanding so we were asked to focus our time on Contracts helper and Proposal Studios
User Flows
we developed user flows on Contracts helper and Proposal Studios to show how our users an navigate through them.
Handing off my research to my colleagues to deliver the solution
After the ideation workshop, my colleagues started to design the prototype of the solution during the deliver phase. I continued to advocate for my research to ensure that the solution was addressing the users’ key pain points.
